Currently playing as a goalkeeper at Nakamura Football Academy and the Captain of the Academy
Kelani Zainab Abike is a Yoruba grassroot football player, she is currently playing as a goalkeeper at Nakamura Football Academy and she’s the current captain of the Academy.
She waisted no time in telling her coach “DIEGO” to instruct her teammates the name she would love to be called. She wanted to be addressed by her surname “KELANI” (a wish that was granted).
Her first WAFA LEAGUE 2018/2019 saw her team at the lowest line of the league table and she conceded 9 goals in 8 matches during the WAFA LEAGUE 2018/2019. Later on, she started catching the eyes of some notables football lovers and the current coach of the U-17 National team coach “Coach Bankole Olowookere” as he presented Kelani the award of the best goalkeeper at the OLORI HADIJAT MEMORIAL CUP 2020. Currently, She’s now well known for her ability to produce spectacular saves, Kelani is widely considered to be one of the fastest growing goalkeepers in the grassroot football all across NIGERIA.
She is known for her massive loud vocal, athleticism, quick reactions and outstanding shot-stopping ability. She also won the best goal keeper during the annual ALL STAR GAMES, the 25th Season of ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA WOMEN FOOTBALL CLUB COACHES “ANWFCC”.
She is one of the few goalkeepers to holds the record for the low goals conceded in the history of WAFA LEAGUE (she conceded 3 goals in 11 league matches in total, helping her team to be the league winner of the WAFA LEAGUE 2021/2022 season) which led her to be the best goalkeeper of the season.
Her wonderful improvement was also noted by many Nigeria women Premier League side, with the fact that she dragged her team to the bottom of the league table as at 2018/2019 season and playing a huge significant role in helping her team won the WAFA LEAGUE 2021/2022 season and became the current best goalkeeper in WAFA LEAGUE 2021/2022 season.
She went on a loan move to Saint Micheal Doves Queens during 2023 and participated in a domestic grassroot CUP known as “RAMADAN CUP”. She saved 2 penalties in a final match against Royaltoms Queens International and she conceded just a goal throughout the CUP, Which saw her became the Best goalkeeper of the RAMADAN CUP.

EARLY LIFE
Was born in IJEBU-IGBO, and She was taken back to Mumuni street Ojuwoye Mushin Lagos State, Nigeria after two days of her birth, which she would move after 3years of age to Olateju mushin, where she was scouted by Nakamura Football Academy.
Kelani Zainab is the first of four children of Kelani Saheed,and Okeowo Aminat. Her mother owns a very popular bar known as “IYA ABIKE COOL SPOT” at OLATEJU MUSHIN LAGOS STATE NIGERIA.
